Nowadays, the mechanical and electrical engineering mode of hospital buildings is not in harmony with the background of today’s rapid development, which hinders mechanical and electrical engineering from achieving the requirements of function and “double carbon” goals, so it needs innovation. The shortcomings of the current mechanical and electrical engineering mode of hospital buildings are analysed. It is proposed that based on completing the integration of the mechanical and electrical system, it should be separated from the construction project and implemented separately as a complete and independent engineering project, and the operation and maintenance should be used as the guide in the whole process, to give full play to the role of design leader. Based on the electrification of hospital buildings and power demand response, the operation and maintenance strategies of hospital building mechanical and electrical engineering to achieve functional goals and be economical and low-carbon are discussed. Finally, it is pointed out that the direct beneficiary and leader of the innovation of hospital building mechanical and electrical engineering are hospitals.
